River City Yarns Online

This is a great local yarn shop. They have answered so many of my questions and helped me out so many times. I love the option of doing a drop in session for more detailed help with specific questions. The selection is amazing and I appreciate their efforts to highlight Canadian dyers.I really like the number of samples they have around the store. On a recent visit, I was looking for a particular item that the store didn’t carry. Rather than just say we don’t have it, they directed me to another local yarn store that carries that item. I appreciate that sense of community and that it was more about helping me find what I needed for a project rather than trying to sell me something that isn’t quite right.

I ordered yarn, and due to the way I had to pay for it, I had to order in two orders. I called the shop after placing, and left a messaging asking if they could ship them together, or if I needed to pay extra. I got an email a day later saying they were shipping everything together for me.This over and above the time spent with me on the phone by one of the lovely ladies as she helped me to choose a yarn that I would be happy with, since I couldn't go in to the shop and touch the yarns myself. My package arrived today, and I am ecstatic with my purchase.Great service, great products. I will definitely be back again.

Have been shopping there for years. Barb and Cynthia and their crew are so helpful and I really enjoyed the Pop Up In-Store Shop they had today with Ancient Arts Yarns. They will help you on line, over the phone, or in-person (by appointment) and they have really cool classes and meetups via Zoom that really help me feel connected to a group of knitters all over the continent. Keep up the great work ladies!!!

RCY is a very special store - they are the leaders of online classes and community for knitters, no matter where you live. They make all their online content (from their podcast to virtual shopping events to hosting classes or knitalongs) fun, warm, and look effortless, but to be that good takes a lot of effort and innate talent! They also carry their own special lines of yarn that you can't find anywhere else. Highly recommend them for shopping or taking an online class - they are quick to respond and always willing to help.

Drove up from Calgary & wasn’t able to purchase anything as it’s no longer open to in person shopping. I loved River City for the kits & beautiful projects displayed for inspiration. I always bought projects based on their inspiration. I guess I won’t be shopping for yarn any longer when I come to Edmonton. So sad.

I've known this place for years, and during COVID they sparkled. We knitters always prefer touching and seeing yarns, but Barb & Cynthia were creative in coming up with options. And upfront in why they were making any changes. I value and respect these owners and their store.

RCY goes above and beyond with customer service. I'm 2 hours away from Edmonton but love supporting local wherever I can. Sadly where I live the closet local yarn store is in Edmonton.After browsing the site I feel in love with some yarn but I had never used the weight before. So I emailed them asking some questions, feeling a little nervous because I'm not a pro at knitting or crocheting. Barb got back to me in a reasonable time answering all my questions and even making sure we were on the same page asked some questions back.The customer service is wonderful (I feel like that's even an understatement). No question is ever so little or big. I look forward to coming in one day to shop in person. I can only imagine how wonderful the customer service is in store if its so wonderful online.

I used to love this store until they went online. Their website is garbage and when I have an idea, I dont want to phone for an appointment to be scheduled to visit and pick my yarn. This isn't a doctor's office, I want to make my projects right away.Many more stores in Edmonton to choose from and many better online sites to buy from.Be the ladybug in a sea of flies, going online wasn't your best business move.

The people in this store have been working their fingers to the bone under all kinds of conditions. I admire their flexibility and how, in the middle of a worldwide pandemic, they were able to keep me inspired and sane. The yarn and accessories offered are fabulous...I've taken classes and seminars that aren't offered elsewhere. Their customer service is the best...this is my LYS and I live in New York.
